dna events was created by Kathryn and Frank Albarado in 2009. As the sister company of Dagar's Catering, the oldest catering company in Austin, dna events has become "the full service catering company, minus the food". dna events pairs years of catering expertise with famous food providers in full service catering proposals which meet the needs of the end client and the venue. To learn more about our food partners, or how to provide your own food, visit our catering & bar services page.
dna events also specializes in venue management. After seeing tremendous growth since 2011, and holding numerous contracts with various venues in central Texas, dna successfully offers bar services, hospitality services, and venue sales/management services on a contractual basis for wedding and event venues. Born into the Dagar's Catering family, one of the most respected Austin catering staples, it was inevitable that Kathryn would be part of the events industry in Central Texas. As a third generation Austinite, Kathryn graduated from Southwest Texas State University in May of 2001. Her father, the late Mr. Albert Dagar, insisted she begin her career at the bottom and work her way up so that she could truly learn the business from the inside out. This approach paid off, and by 2009 Kathryn was ready to take the reins at Dagar's Catering--and in a new type of catering venture alongside her husband. This venture, of course, would be dna events.
Over the years, Kathryn has catered an estimated 1700 weddings, as well as events for such dignitaries such as President Bill Clinton and Lady Bird Johnson. Presently, Kathryn is still very active behind the scenes, organizing catering for events hosted by AISD, UT Austin, Austin Board of Realtors, SXSW, and many other A-list companies and organizations. Over the past eight years, Kathryn has also continued to expand the scope of dna events in the Texas Hill Country, joining forces with a number of renowned area eateries to execute truly unique catered events.
Kathryn is a member of the Junior League of Austin. In recent years, she chaired St. Elias Orthodox Church's Mediterranean Festival, and has been recognized by her peers for her accomplishments. Most recently she was awarded the Charlotte A. Buschmann Award of Excellence by NEAWP (Nuptials Essentials Association of Wedding Professionals), the organization's highest honor.
Kathryn offers business consultation to wedding and event professionals on a limited basis, accepting no more than four clients annually. To learn more, contact Kathryn today!
Frank Albarado first entered the events industry in 2003 while still working his way through college at Southwest Texas State University. While his original plan was to be an attorney, he was faced one day with choice of Law School or joining his beautiful wife in her family's business. After much deliberation, he chose the latter path and the rest is history! Drawing from their combined experience, in 2009, he and his wife began their own venture, dna events.
Frank's innate passion for working with people became an invaluable asset to the company throughout the early years of his marriage to Kathryn. It was his masterful skill set, including salesmanship and customer relationship-building that became the foundation of his impeccable reputation within the industry. Drawing on his 15 years of catering experience, Frank has obtained unparalleled industry expertise in the arena of venue management by blending the two worlds to provide a client with knowledge of both sides of the event.
Under Frank's leadership, dna events manages bar service contracts and hospitality contracts with venues such as Memory Lane Event Center & Duchman Family Winery. In 2011, La Paloma Event Center (now Antebellum Oaks Venue) became the first "full service venue management" partner and the results were wonderful.
